I had a one-time Sears footwear buyer contact me with some fascinating facts about JEEPERS. Here are the high points::

Sears, Roebuck, and Company has
been one of the leading department stores in the United States for many years. Therefore,
I'd predict that in 1965, many Baby Boom Boys started their school year with a pair of
brand-new JEEPERS Brand sneakers from Sears.

Here are the white high-top
basketball-sneaker JEEPERS for 1965.

JEEPERS also came in black
high-tops and low-tops, as well as white low-tops. All were value priced at only $4.77 a
pair.

If one didn't like
basketball-type sneakers, Sears also had this model in 1965. It bears a strong resemblance
to the always-classic Jack Purcell court sneaker. (Even to the
rubber "SMILE.")
