What's a Performa? Computer, sneaker, or washer?

Computer?

Macintosh Performa 6420 computerOnce upon a time, "Performa" was a line of computers from Apple. (They don't make them anymore, preferring instead to just call everything a "Macintosh." After all, a "Performa" was a "Macintosh" in the first place.)

Sneaker?

The sneaker for Apple users - the adidas PerformaWas somebody at adidas looking at their computer when they had to come up with a name for this shoe model?

Washer?

Washing machine for sneakers?

The Maytag Performa washer brings forth some questions in my mind:

  1. Does Maytag think Apple is all washed up?
  2. Is this a special washing machine for adidas sneakers?
  3. Was somebody at Maytag looking at their computer when they had to come up with a name for this washing machine?
  4. Was somebody at Maytag looking at their adidas when they had to come up with a name for this washing machine?
  5. Did this washing machine inspire the 1999 Nike sport sandal models "Rinse" and "Air Spin Cycle?"
